FAQs:
North Bay Rapid Response Network

What is the North Bay Rapid Response Network (NBRRN)?

The North Bay Rapid Response Network is a community-led first responder network for Sonoma, Solano and Napa counties that allows our immigrant communities and allies to respond to fear and anxiety with power and action in the face of threats of ICE raids or attacks against our communities.

We serve as witnesses to immigration enforcement actions, uphold the rights and dignity of immigrants and our allies, and connect communities to networks of care.

What does the Rapid Response Network do?

We provide a 24-hour emergency hotline to community members who experience or witness an ICE raid by federal immigration agents, we dispatch trained legal observers to the location, confirm presence of ICE in our neighborhoods, connect communities to legal defense, and offer accompaniment to families following an ICE raid.

If you live outside of Sonoma, Solano or Napa counties, you can find your local Rapid Response Network, visit: https://www.northbayop.org/rapidresponse

How will we know if there is ICE activity?

The North Bay Rapid Response Network will post Migra Watch updates on social media as our team confirms ICE presence. Follow the North Bay Rapid Response Network on Facebook at @NorthBayRapidResponse, and the North Bay Organizing Project on Instagram and Facebook at @NorthBayOrganizingProject.

What’s the difference between "yellow cards" and "red cards"?

The “yellow card” or “tarjeta amarilla” includes the North Bay Rapid Response Network hotline number that community members can use to report any sign of ICE activity. It also tells you 5 steps of what to do if ICE arrives at your door.

The “red card” or “tarjeta roja” is what you would show immigration officials by sliding under your door (without opening the door) that documents your 5th Amendment right to remain silent until your lawyer is contacted.

How can I request yellow or red cards?

Yellow and red cards are available through the North Bay Organizing Project by request and through partner organizations across the North Bay. We will soon have a request form available on NBOP’s website. To make a request, you must order on our the website and we are not able to accept requests by phone, email or in person.

If you would like to print your own, you can download materials from our website:  www.northbayop.org/nbrrn-materials

How can I join the North Bay Rapid Response Network?

The NBRRN and NBOP will be hosting regular trainings on how to become a Legal Observer or bilingual dispatcher for our hotline. If you are interested in joining the next training, please fill out this form so we can get to know you more, and a member of our team will be in touch with information about our next training: www.northbayop.org/join-our-migra-watch
