Mobile Home Park Residents Urge State Officials to vote NO to AB 813

Submitted by leader residents of local manufactured home parks:

Dear neighbors, there's a state bill that park owners across the state want to pass that would severely impact us. It's AB 813, and if the state were to pass this bill, it would allow owners or managers to evict people and families from their homes for being substantial nuisances. Basically, it would say that a person or family is causing trouble for the community and then kick us out. There are no specific rules about what constitutes a nuisance. This would allow corporate landlords to evict whoever they want, whenever they want, and possibly take our trailers without giving us a cent.

WE CAN TAKE ACTION: We need to call the state or district office to tell them our name. That we live in trailers in Petaluma, and this bill would make us feel like we can't do anything about what's happening in our parks without possibly losing our home! And for many of us, our life savings were used to buy our trailers, and we'll be left with no home, without money, or resources—possibly even unhoused if this bill becomes law. Ask the person on the phone to tell the assembly member that you OPPOSE AB 813 and thank them for their time.

WHICH NUMBER TO CALL?: please call 916-319-2062, which is the district office in Sacramento.

AND please call 562-529-3250, which is the district office in Lakewood, California.

For those who can't call you can email Esteban.Zeferino@asm.ca.gov. Feel free to use the template shared, some of the contents of the WhatsApp message, or write in your own words.

YOU HAVE A VOICE, AND STATE REPRESENTATIVES, PLEASE LET THEM KNOW TO VOTE NO TO AB 813! These calls must be made today, Wednesday, April 2—before they vote. This bill will be heard in Sacramento next Wednesday, April 9.
